All Season Solar Cooker Camper Review

This is an upgrade of the well-received All Season Solar Cooker, with Sol Cook giving it a newer, larger look. It is created to capture the sun’s energy all day long; actually it can absorb the sun’s energy for 12 days, as opposed to all the other solar cookers that can collect just 4 hours of sunlight. It virtually has the same great functions as an indoor oven. It is great for anyone with a small space, limited fuel, and weight concerns when traveling. It might well be the best affordable solar oven.

PROS
  • It is so lightweight, weighing only 2 pounds.
  • Comes cheap. You do not have to stretch your budget for this.
  • Cook more food portions with its 12” x 17” large cooking area.
  • All-day cooking is made easy with its high adjustability.
CONS
  • Compared with other models, this may be not as tough and long-lasting.
  • It could fail during high winds.

What Else Should You Know?

First position assortment of adjustment.

The ASSC boasts a COORDINATED ARTICULATING reflector array (unique among solar stoves ). The array is made up of an upper reflector group, a lower reflector group, and side reflector panels. The upper and lower group are attached using an “elevation pub” which holds the 2 groups at a specific angle to each other. When one group is transferred, the other group moves evenly as the altitude bar brings it along.
When one group is set in solar focus, another group is also in solar attention. There’s never any guess work, all panels move together in a coordinated fashion that ensures that if one reflector group is concentrated, they all are focused.
In this “first place” the ASSC can concentrate on a solar elevation of 0º – if the sun is rising, all of the way around 50º.

Second position range of adjustment

This is the identical assortment of adjustment as in first position, however the ASSC can be flipped 90º onto its alternate cooking flooring. In the “second place”, the ASSC can concentrate on a solar elevation of 40º to 90º. This is the place that you can use when the solar elevation is over 40º. I use this place mid day in spring, summer and autumn but not in the winter because the sun does not get over 40º elevation in the winter months.

The All Season Solar Cooker could be corrected for any solar elevation. And since the reflector arrays are attached to each other and coordinated, when one panel becomes focused, they all become focused.

Weighing in at only 2 pounds, and folding to a mere 1.5 inches in thickness, the ASSC is easily transported and easily stored.
Ultra rugged 4mm corrugated polypropylene – completely water proof, extremely durable.
Pure aluminum – 0.2millimeter foil (super heavy) is laminated into the polypropylene. Ultra lightweight yet thick enough to withstand rugged use and, if needed, polishing.

The All Season Solar Cooker Comes with a Sunsight.

This awesome little device is used to perfectly align the cooker with sunlight. After the Sunsight pin is pointed directly at the sun, it is going to have no shadow. All reflectors will be in ideal solar focus and the cooker will be optimally collecting all available light (from sunup to sundown!)
The Sunsight is also utilised to set around a three hour cooking session. The stove is turned and the array is adjusted upwards (mornings) or downward (afternoons) and always ahead of the sun to reach a shadow as seen previously. The ASSC is now focused up to 18º in front of the sun. As time passes, the shadow will shrink in the pin, then re-emerge on the other side along with the pin. After the shadow reaches about 3/8″ in length, it is time to refocus.
Just one set of the ASSC and Sunsight as described above is more than enough cooking time an entire grain, cake, bread, veggies, roasts – just about everything but the very long cooking foods such as dry beans.
The Trivet The trivet increases the cooking pot off the ground and allows light (and heat) to strike the bottom of the pan. This provides for more even heating and is particularly useful when cooking breads.

Capacity

The cooking area of this All Season Solar Cooker is 12″ by 12″. There’s no upper limit on inside height. The cooking area remains the same when the ASSC is in its summer or winter position. There’s absolutely no door that will limit the size of your cook pot.
Oven roasting bags (turkey bags) may be used to cook with just about any size cook pans and they’ll provide you about a few months worth of cooking if you take care not to damage or dirty them.
But, if you prefer a more durable and also a bit more effective method of cooking at the ASSC then I’d suggest you use a glass enclosure for your pots/pans.
You might also wish to bring the Pyrex Easy Grip Pie plate. This makes a great base, using a Pyrex bowl as a cover, for smaller amounts.

The cooking enclosure can be done by joining, or resting two transparent glass bowls together to create a sealed airtight interior where your pot/pan can absorb the suns rays and become trapped heat energy which then transfers to your meals.
